  • 5 Alexander The Great Campaign – Hellenic Edition.
  • Its funny because the Bretonnian army comp can easily be summed up as 16-17 Grail Knights, 2-3 Trebuchets, and of course 1 lord. I'm not saying not to play them - they're certainly a good way to teach yourself cav micro if you want to play Quick Match online - but they're definitely not noob-friendly, so you'll be jumping into the deep end.īecause of this then they are correctly placed as a Warhammer I campaign right? When you said hard, you meant for Warhammer II? IN other words, if I really wanted to play them, play them in Warhammer I? Plus, chivalry (you're like supposed to be a good guy). On the campaign map, you have to deal with peasant economy, which means recruitment or money issues in the early game. They require a bunch of micro since their strongest units need cycle charging, and their cavalrey *still* isn't as good as empire cavalry. Originally posted by Dark Wombat:I did some research and if I want to split my playtime between the two games how does this look?īrettonia are hard as balls right now. Really, I'd reccomend doing Normal instead of Easy it's a better teaching experience.

(don't need the mod if you're using SFO or Radious). So "easy" mode has the easiest campaign and the hardest battles, unless you have the mod: Because of a huge rooster-up by CA, battles are hard on easy, easy on hard, and normal on normal/very hard/legendary. If you're doing WH2 instead of WH1, be sure to grab the "community bugfix mod" if you plan on playing on easy. After that, just play whatever looks like fun. Do a run with Empire first to get used to the game mechanics and explore. Personal recommendation for you: just skip to TWW2 Mortal Empires for the upgrades. They seem to play like orcs, except with more monsters - you can definitely go with huge hordes of troops and win with numbers. Supposedly, they're loads of fun with cool mechanics. I didn't get to play much Norsca before moving to WH2 (just in Quick Match), so I can't comment there. On Very Hard/Legendary, their first 50 turns are *very* slow and require a bunch of waiting. They're probably better on low difficulty (at least at the beginning). Personally, I didn't find their campaign much fun at all, but many people love them. I would not reccomend them as a starter faction. Their mechanics are a bit strange, and in battle depend quite a bit on micro. Wood elves have a rocky start and an incredibly easy endgame. It'll be challenge with either of these factions. Orc combat is very much about surrounding and overwhelming opponents with sheer numbers. Orcs are fairly simple all around, but the Waagh AI is annoying. Brettonia also requires a crapload of micro and has some tricky campaign mechanics. Orcs and Brettonia are in a bad palce balance-wise. Chaos are pretty easy, but IMO *incredibly* boring. I've heard Beastmen are rather difficult, but don't own the DLC myself.

Also, everyone hates you, so you will get very little in the way of diplomacy. They're quite strong balance-wise, and all around very fun.īeastmen and Chaos are horde factions so they play differently. You'll use a lot of expendable troops (because raise dead is so easy), and rely more on magic in battle. Vampire Counts are awesome, but require a bit different of a playstyle. Also, I find them much more fun than dwarfs. Also, you're incredibly favored in auto-resolve, to the point where auto-resolving will give you better results than actually playing the battles.Įmpire isn't nearly as easy as Dwarfs, but gives you a lot of options for how you want to play, and isn't very complex. Lots of ways to make money, and their combat is very simple (albeit a bit boring), since you can play very defensive. But all of the following applies to both games:ĭwarfs are by far the easiest faction. If you play Empire/Dwarf/Vampires, you'll probably not encounter any of the Warhammer 2 races for 150+ turns.
